Cold weather makes paintballs more brittle, meaning they will more likely break inside your paintball marker or in the barrel, too. This can be overcome with a specialized paintball for winter use.

Art Life winter paintballs have a thicker, more robust shell to withstand the freezing temperatures. However the paint inside the ball will freeze solid, if exposed to cold for long time periods. We like to refer this as a winter shell instead of a winter paintball, as actual winter paintballs also have some type of anti-freeze agent mixed in with the paint. These proper winter paintballs are for example GI Sportz Frostbite, GI Sportz Winter and Empire Polar Ice.

Winter paintballs can also be used with Magfed paintball markers around the year. If your magfed marker is chopping paint, give harder paintballs a try!
